2024 Meeting of the Council of Bishops

 

2024 is the 25th Anniversary Celebration of the World Conference. The Council of Bishops will be meeting in the Dominican Republic this October to celebrate. We will be staying at the Hodelpa Gran Almirante in Santiago.

Entry/Visa Information

Tourist visas can be issued for one or several entries. Any person, regardless of nationality, can visit the Dominican Republic if they are a legal resident or possess a visa from any of the following places: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, or Schengen. 

Travelers who do not have a visa from countries listed above or from other authorized countries will need to apply for a visa. To issue a visa the passport needs to have a validity of at least six months. 

If a Visa is needed to enter the Dominican Republic, please apply now so you are prepared in October.

Travel Information

All foreign and Dominican passengers entering or departing the Dominican Republic on commercial flights must complete the free electronic entry and exit form at: https://eticket.migracion.gob.do (There are some scam links that will ask you to pay. Please do not pay for this service – it is free. Only use the link provided here.) 

 

You will be responsible for securing your own flight to the DR. World Conference will pick you up from the airport and provide any other travel for you while you are in the country. Bishops, please submit your ticket receipt so we can reimburse you for your flight: https://forms.office.com/r/L6xFYEyY7q 

 

Fly in to Santiago Airport (STI) by the afternoon of Thursday, October 24. 

 

We will arrange for you to be picked up from the airport based on the information you provide on the Flight Information form. Please book your own travel and send your receipts to Mark Dowley at wcec.sec.treas@gmail.com. It will take 1-2 weeks to process your reimbursement. Reimbursements will not be given in cash in the Dominican Republic. 

Vaccine Information


The DR does not check for vaccine records in the airports in order to enter the country, but here are the CDC guidelines for vaccines:

Schedule


Thursday, October 24:
 

  • 1:00pm – 3:00pm – Bishops should arrive 


Friday, October 25:

  • Meeting all day
  • Evening Worship Service


Saturday, October 26: 

  • Morning – Meeting until noon 
  • Afternoon – Free for informal gatherings, shopping, group tour of the Heroes of the Restoration monument 
  • Evening Worship Service (optional)


Sunday, October 27: 

  • Morning – All bishops are invited to preach in a local congregation 
  • Afternoon – Free to depart


Monday, October 28:

  • Free to depart (at the latest)

Translation Information 


We will provide translation from English into Spanish and Portuguese, and if you require translation into another language you should arrange to have a translator attend with you. Please contact Mark Dowley at wcec.sec.treas@gmail.com if a translator will be attending with you.
 

Registration Information


Bishops and their spouses are invited to attend, and expenses will be covered by the World Conference. Once your flight is secured, please submit the Flight Information Form so we can plan to pick you up from the airport. Visa costs will also be covered.
